Chosen Generation Association, in partnership with ZIMPAST, are set to host the Mr and Miss Disability 2023 modelling pageant at Masvingo Polytechnic on April 1, 2023.
Vimbai Yvonne Chese who is the CGA director and ambassador of young people with disabilities said the event, which is themed; ‘beauty and brain beyond disability’ will have 10 boys and 10 girls competing.
She said the modelling show is being held to prove that people with disabilities can also do what able-bodied people do.
“We are holding this pageant to build self-esteem among people with disabilities and our participants are drawn from Masvingo Province. The theme is premised on the fact that disability does not mean inability hence we are showcasing that people with disabilities also have brains and are beautiful and talented as well,” said Chese.
Chese said participants were selected from the seven districts of Masvingo Province and Chipo Muchegwa will be the guest artist supported by WekwaMaramba and Alchemy, among others.
She added that the pageant began in 2019 and this year’s event is sponsored by Masvingo City deputy mayor Wellington Mahwende and Ginix events among others.
