Zim Now Writer

A Cliff Security Company guard, who stole a company-issued rifle and committed robberies has been sentenced to a year in prison by Chivhu magistrate Sam Chitumwa.

Simbarashe Mutenga, 23, disappeared with the 303 rifle, which was loaded with two rounds on November 16, 2022, and was arrested a few days later in Murambinda.

Prosecutor Taonga Masaire told the court that Mutenga was on night duty at a Fossil Workshop in Featherstone.

He relieved Frank Mupange who gave him the rifle, serial number A72944.

Mutenga left his post around 6:30pm and did not return and Mupange failed to locate him when he came for duty in the morning.

Cliff Security Company Operations Supervisor Cassius Nyamudzwa was informed of the matter and he filed a police report, leading to Mutenga’s arrest in Buhera a few days later.
