Forgotten Chitungwiza-based mbira musician, Nobert Kudenga, popularly known as Sekuru Tsuro, has set his sights on reviving his faltering career through the anticipated release of an album he did in 2010, tiled Ngoma Ine Ndangariro.
Speaking to Zim Now, Sekuru Tsuro, said he had abandoned music due to financial constraints, adding that this time around, he has learnt his lessons and will ensure he will not fall again.
“We have an album that we did in 2010 that we intend to push first. The album is titled Ngoma Ine Ndangariro and we should be able to release this around the end of June.
“I know that our fans have been yearning to hear from us but this is the signal. We are back, and this time, for good.
Sekuru Tsuro, who was born on June 29, 1985 in rural Seke, Started playing marimba while still at Tangenhamo Primary School in Zengeza 5, Chitungwiza. He was also involved in traditional dance, especially muchongoyo.
After leaving school, Sekuru Tsuro playedwith other established names such as Pio Farai Macheka, Taurai Brian Mteki and Ambuya Beaullah Dyoko among others.
He formed the Black Spears Cultural Mbira Group in 2007 and the group grew into a household name, performing in places like Chirundu, Marondera, Gutu, Chinhoyi, Kariba over and above Harare and Chitungwiza.
Financial constraints bogged the group down and it is only now that they want to rise again.
