The Zimbabwe-China Business Forum, which was officially opened by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Ambassador Frederick Shava, seeks to deepen economic relations between the two countries riding on decades of sound political relations.
“This is a momentous economic occasion for our two nations as we intend to build solid economic cooperation which should strengthen and take our economies forward punctuated by resilience,” the Minister said.
While, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Deputy Director General, Zhou Ping noted, “The economic brotherhood between Zimbabwe and China is being strengthened by these engagements which we are having and should therefore be nurtured to see its objectives coming to fruition.”
Detailed presentations from Zimbabwe and Chinese government agencies touched on the need for the two countries to create export-led economies.
“The numbers that have come to attend this business forum are instructive of the importance that these interactions have concerning fulfilling our country’s objective of creating an export-led economic growth,” stated ZimTrade CEO, Allan Majuru.
While, China-Africa Economic and Culture Exchange and Research Centre Chairperson, Steve Zhao weighed in: “We are a very big economy with a lot of supply gaps and cooperating with emerging economies that are doing well in agriculture is good in bringing competitive checks and balance.”
Business-to-business engagements were also held to connect and synchronise related commercial lines for the two economies.
