A Mazowe man who killed another after refusing to be bullied off from a pit has appeared in court.

Tatenda Chidavaenzi, 25, of Sunny Valley Farm, Mazowe, was arraigned before magistrate Dennis Mangosi at the Harare Magistrates' Court accused of murder.

The State alleges that on February 24, 2023 at around 0300 hours, the now deceased, Webster Ndlov aged 42, was at White City Farm at Christon Bank where he was panning gold in the company of his friends.

Immediately, Chidavaenzi in the company of his syndicate came bullying them off their pit.

The now deceased resisted and Chidavaenzi stabbed him several times on the chest and on the back using a knife.

He fell down bleeding profusely and he was rushed by his friends to Parirenyatwa Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

A report was made at ZRP Marlborough and Chidavaenzi went into hiding.

A post mortem was carried out on the deceased and it was established that the cause of death was due to acute anaemic, lacerated right lung and a stab wound on the right side of the thorax.

On May 30, 2023, detectives from CID were informed that Chidavaenzi had resurfaced in Hatcliffe.

A follow up was made leading to his arrest at his hiding place in the midst of a forest in Munyati Farm, Mazowe.

Mangosi ordered Chidavaenzi to appear in court on June 16. Bail was denied and was advised to apply at the High Court.
