A Gutu man who claimed that he was selling a stand, leading to the complainant paying using his car and later realising that the stand was already occupied, has appeared before the court.
Kingston Mushava, 36, of Gutu appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with fraud.
He appeared before magistrate Munashe Chibanda who ordered him to appear in court on August 17 pending indictment.
The State, through prosecutor Zebediah Bofu alleges that on December 15, 2020 in Harare, Mushava approached the complainant, Madimutsa Godfrey through Madimutsa’s young brother Simbarashe and told him that he was selling his stand which was at Sally Mugabe Co-operative in Hatcliffe.
Madimutsa made payment for the stand by giving Mushava a Ford Transit.
Madimutsa made a visit to the stand later with the intent to develop it but discovered that there was someone occupying the stand who claimed to be the owner of the stand.
He contacted Mushava to come to the stand for clarification but he was nowhere to be found.
That led Madimutsa to report the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of Mushava in Gutu.
Madimutsa suffered prejudice of a vehicle Ford transit valued at US$4 500 and nothing was recovered.
