Journalism plays a critical role in the delivery of justice in the country as it helps in bringing about accountability and justice.
These sentiments were made by Doctor Tarisai Mutangi at a Media Institute of Southern Africa workshop for journalists on court reporting that was held by at a Harare hotel yesterday.
Mutangi, who is a lawyer, said media was influential as it helps in ensuring that society was informed, and as such, there is need to report fairly.
“Journalism helps in putting pressure on the judiciary to deliver, it insures that justice is served.
“The journalism fraternity is a partner to justice,” he said.
Mutangi added that journalists were uncelebrated influencers as they helped in social change, making objectivity a central part of their reportage.
He also said the media was protected by the Constitution as it played its role as an informer of the masses.
