Four dogs that feasted on Tapiwa Makore Junior’s mutilated body after he was murdered by Tafadzwa Shamba and Tapiwa Makore Senior in Murehwa three years ago have all died.
One of the villagers, Joseph Nyambuwa,32, who came across Tapiwa Jr’s mutilated hands and legs, confirmed the incident.
“I am the first person to come across the four greyhounds from this community feasting on the boy’s legs and hands.
“Three of the dogs died one after the other. The other one, from the Murwira family which was found dragging the boy’s corpse died later,” Nyambuwa said.
He said village elders do not allow people to keep dogs which would have tasted human flesh.
However, all these four dogs were not killed by their owners or members of the community but appear to have died in mysterious circumstances.
Nyambuwa said it will take him ages to forget the horrific incidents.
“We won’t forget this story. I come from Nyanga in Manicaland, I had never witnessed anything like this in my life.”
Village elder, Summer Murwira,81, whose dog came home dragging Tapiwa Jr’s torso, was still in shock.
“It is my dog, which came home dragging Tapiwa Junior’s torso. The dog died, leaving two puppies. We won’t forget this story as a family. We are only relieved that Tafadzwa Shamba and Tapiwa Makore Snr were sentenced to death,” Murwira said, adding if there was a more severe sentence that surpassed the death penalty, it would have been appropriate.
