"Take Money" takes cash, and sets eyes on gold belt

“Take Money” holds on to her belt after dismissing challenger Zulina Munoz

World Boxing Council Interim Super Bantamweight Kudakwashe ‘Take money’ Chiwandire made US$40 thousand after eclipsing challenger Mexican Zulina Munoz and is now set to challenge for the gold belt in Mexico next year.

When she won, Chiwandire automatically made US$20 thousand guaranteed to the winner and this was doubled by personal pledges of US$10 thousand each from Deputy Sports Minister Tino Machakaire and businessman Scott Sakupwanya.

Chiwandire’s victory came after a frustrating delay as fight was postponed three times until Government provided US$50 thousand support for the bout.

Chiwandire was not intimidated by Munoz record 53 wins, four defeats and two draws and went on to put Munoz on the mat twice.

The three judges scored the fight 96-92, 98-89 and 100-86 in favour of the Zimbabwean boxer.

Chiwandire will now challenge for the gold belt next year to face either Mariana Juarez or Yamileth Mercado who are set to fight for the WBC Super bantamweight world championship in Mexico on November 29.
