A man, who has been arraigned before the courts on allegations of stealing a car and changing its registration plates, has been denied bail.
Isheanesu Murambi, 34, Golden Crescent, Gweru, appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with theft of a motor vehicle.
He was ordered to appear in court on October 26, pending finalisation of investigations.
The State alleges that on July 18, 2023 during the night, Murambi stole the complainant in this matter, Sipho Bernard Ndlovu's car, a white Honda Fit which was parked in Glen Norah A Flats.
The car was locked, but it is suspected that Murambi used duplicate keys to unlock it and drove it away without anyone seeing him.
He allegedly went on to remove the original registration number plates of the car and replaced them with another number set of registration plates.
On September 14, 2023, Murambi was arrested by detectives in around the Avenues area in Harare while driving the car.
The original number plates were seen hidden under the seat of the car when Murambi was arrested.
The value of the car was US$4 800.
