Three people, who were found in possession of three pangolin skins worth US$15 000 without a permit appeared before the magistrates’ court.
Shamisai Njere, 44, Regina Kafere, 39, and Zivayi Mudara, appeared before magistrate Ruth Moyo at the Harare Magistrates’ accused of illegal possession of three pangolin skins, which they intended to sell at Newlands Shopping Centre in Harare.
The court heard that on September 30, 2023, at approximately 10.30am, the accused persons were at Newlands shops in a Honda Fit, attempting to sell the skins.
CID Detectives received information from an informant and approached the accused, identified themselves before requesting to search the vehicle.
Njere was found with a parcel wrapped in newspapers and sealed with tape, leading to the arrest of all three individuals.
The three were remanded in custody and will return to court for trial on September 25.
