Lupane police have launched a manhunt for a 35-year-old man after he murdered his parents last week on Thursday.
Clever Ngwenya killed his parents, Mildress Ngwenya,71, and Simon Ngwenya,73, during a family gathering at Gwalubha Village, Mabhikwa.
Following the brutal assault on his parents, the suspect attempted to chase down his two brothers with the intention of harming them as well.
However, they managed to outrun him, evading any harm. The police are now searching for Clever to bring him to justice.
“For an unknown reason while attending a family gathering at Gwalubha Village, Mabhikwa on 21/09/23, the suspect stabbed his mother, Mildress Ngwenya, with a knife on the throat before stabbing his father, Simon Ngwenya also on the throat with the same knife.
The suspect went on to chase his two brothers with the intention of stabbing them with the knife but was outpaced,” police said.
The motive behind the attack is still unknown.
The police have called on the public to seek peaceful resolutions to conflicts and disputes, rather than resorting to violence.
