Two men, who were arrested in connection of a car theft at Mashwede Complex, have been arraigned before the court.
Gift Rutsito, 29, of Glen View Area 8 and Steady Chenjerai, 25, of Budiriro 5, appeared before magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa accused of stealing a car.
The two were placed on remand and will appear in court on November 30, pending finalisation of investigations.
The State, through prosecutor Pardon Dziva, alleges that on September 29, at around 0300 hours, the two and their accomplice, Isaiah Mhandu - who is still at large - approached the complainant in this matter, Blessed Wasekiwa’s Mazda Bongo that was parked at Mashwede Complex near the corner of High Glen and Willowvale roads.
They allegedly used a duplicate key to open the car’s doors and drove the vehicle away.
Wasekiwa allegedly returned after ten minutes and discovered that his car was no longer there and went to ZRP Glen Norah to file a report.
On October 19, detectives who were on surveillance at Gazaland Shops, Highfield spotted the car parked and their investigations led to the arrest of the two at Glen View Area 8.
The value of property that was stolen was US$8 000.
