The body of a baby girl was found inside a carrier bag, wrapped in a baby blanket at Shawasha Grounds in Mbare opposite Pioneer Cemetery.
The incident was confirmed by the police.
According to the police, the baby, estimated to be two months’ old, was discovered on Sunday.
A statement from the police in Harare reads: “Police in Harare are investigating a case of infanticide in which a baby girl (approximately 2 months) was found dead at Shawasha Grounds, opposite Pioneer Cemetery, Mbare on 29/10/23.
“The body was found in a carrier bag and was wrapped with a baby blanket. Anyone with information to report at any nearest police station,” reads the statement.
The police urged anyone with information to assist in the investigation of this tragic case.
