A man, who allegedly wanted to associate himself with the Chiwenga family by changing his child’s surname, has appeared in court.
Lloyd Matotote, 36, of Glaudina Park, appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts accused of falsifying a birth certificate.
He will appear in court on November 13 for bail application.
The State, through prosecutor Grace Mugocheke, alleges that Matotote conceived a child with his wife, Talent Ndlovu on June 8, 2011, and they divorced before the child was registered.
On December 20, 2017, his wife, obtained a birth certificate for the child Anotidaishe Gabriel Ndlovu under birth entry number LOM-2074-17 and she used her maiden surname as his father, Matotote was not forthcoming.
On February 8, 2022, Matotote, connived with one Martin Chiwenga who is still at large, to convince Ndlovu to change the name of the child to Anotidaishe Chiwenga.
The motive behind was that Matotote wanted to look like he was related to the Chiwenga family yet he is not.
They went to Makombe Building, at the Registrar-General’s Office and got a birth certificate for his child with the name altered to Anotidaishe Chiwenga NR 70-2089370 T 80 serial number 6763993AA and birth entry number LOM-00102-22.
