Two Zvishavane men jailed for cultivating dagga

Two Zvishavane men were arrested on Wednesday for cultivation of dagga.

Police confirmed the arrest of Njabulo Nyoni, 42, and Wellington Zhou, 43, of Zvishavane on X wall.

“On 08/11/23, Police in Zvishavane acted on received information and arrested Njabulo Nyoni, 42, and Wellington Zhou, 43, in connection with illegal cultivation of dagga.”

Police found 120 plants of dagga in Njabulo Nyoni’s garden and 190 plants in Wellington Zhou’s garden.

The plants were measuring between one and two metres.

The two were referred to court where Njabulo Nyoni was sentenced to 36 months imprisonment while Wellington Zhou was sentenced to 48 months imprisonment.

Police in Karoi are investigating a case unlawful entry into premises and theft which occurred on Thursday night at a shop specialising in selling stock feed, hardware and farming implements in Chiedza.

Unknown suspects entered the shop through the window before blowing a cash safe and stole US$1850.00 cash.

In Bulawayo, Armstron Alfred Nyathi was murdered on Thursday after being assaulted by unknown suspects for unknown reasons last months in Bulawayo Central Business District.

Police in Rushinga have arrested Jeremiah Zimuto, 37, Fanuel Mupetura, 35, and Season Zimuto, 29, in connection with illegal possession of a pangolin on Wednesday at Chipandire Village, Rusambo, Rushinga.
