Football Administrator Theresa Maguraushe, Patience Mutumwa and Zimbabwe Women Football Committee member Sibekiwe Ndlovu graduated from the Council of Southern Africa Football Association (COSAFA) Women’s Leadership Program.

The Women’s leadership program aims to empower women in sport with expertise in a life-changing course that can help to modify the face of female participation in sports administration.

Ndlovu is a board member in the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Southern Region Women’s League and a former Highlanders Royals Chairperson.

Speaking to ZimNOW, Mutumwa said the program means more responsibility for her, transporting skills she acquired to benefit other women in the industry.

Mutumwa is a sports officer and also manages the Midlands State University Queens Football Club.

Maguraushe on the other hand, encouraged more women to participate in such programs to enhance their careers without hesitance.

“Achieving this certificate has given me more confidence in my abilities and has boosted my development and career,” she said.

Maguraushe revealed that she was recently made part of the ZIFA Strategic Committee.

In related news, Amor' Sports Founder and Annual National Sports Awards panelist Joyce Kapota is among the first group of women from Zimbabwe to graduate from the Region 5 African Union Sports Council (AUSC) and The Association For International Sports For All (TAFISA) Women Leadership Programme.

According to Kapota, these programs are efforts to capacitate women for leadership positions.

Among other graduates are Kudzai Pikitai, Banda Stembile, Nelia Tanyaradzwa Kuyeri, Precious Majaka, Unity Jagada, Ashyline Sibiya, Zanele Nzuma, Andale Dube, Daphne Howe, Longines Msimanga, Kimberly Chigwedere, Onica Mambeu, Rumbidzai Makusha, Brenda Mudzimu and Christine Manyanya.

"These are excellent opportunities for women's capacity building and a step further for women to take up space in this male dominated industry.

"Its not just an issue of women's inclusion in sport management but being qualified and able to lead with the required skills and competence," Kapota said.

TAFISA is an international non-governmental organisation that promotes and facilitates access physical activity and sport for all.
