The Zimbabwe Miners Federation has endorsed Herietta Rushwaya’s presidency, ZMF secretary-general Morgan Mugawu has said.
In a memo to provincial chairpersons, Mugawu said the ZMF national executive had endorsed the motion to support Rushwaya’s presidency which was raised by the general council through Midlands chairperson Makumbe Nyenje and seconded by Mashonaland Central’s Christine Munyoro.
“At a meeting held in Harare on the 24th of November, 2023, the Midlands Province, led by chairman Makumba Nyenje moved a motion to support the presidency of Madam H Rushwaya and this was supported by Ms Christine Munyoro from Mashonaland Central.
“The Youth and Women represented by Mr Darlington Ndlovu and Mrs J Mazivazvose respectively and other six provinces unanimously supported the motion.
“Having received such recoimmendations, the national executive hereby fully endordses the presidency of Madam Henrietta Rushwaya as the ZMF president,” the memo reads in part.
Rushwaya’s term will run until the end of 2025 when elections to choose a new leader will be held. – Mining Zimbabwe
