Zimbabwe’s average dam level has dropped to 74 percent as at Wednesday from the 77 percent recorded on November 15, 2023.

This comes as high temperatures have continued across the country while water withdrawals by local authorities and farming activities have increased, according to the Zimbabwe National Water Authority.

In a statement on micro-blogging site, X, Zinwa said:

“Dam levels as at December 6: water levels are on a declining trend. Dam level average now 74.4 percent due to the high temperatures and intensified withdrawals for irrigation and councils,” Zinwa said.

Lake Chivero, according to the latest statistics, is 74 percent full, Mzingwane (4 percent), Upper Ncema (23 percent), Inyakuni (27 percent) and Insiza (58 percent).

Tugwi Mukosi is 82 percent full, Lake Mutirikwi (90 percent) and Manyame (83 percent).
