A man, who is being accused of assaulting the complainant claiming that he was throwing stones at people who had gathered for a funeral, has been granted free bail.
Munyaradzi Febion Kufahakutizwi, of New Mabvuku, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with assault and malicious damage to property.
The complainants in the matters are Patrick Chiremba, 45, and Michael Nyasulu, 35, both of New Mabvuku.
The State alleges that on November 21, 2023, Chiremba, authorised Douglas Matadi, the national administration officer for Pastors in Action 4ED to use his Toyota Hiace to campaign for the December 9, 2023, by-elections Zanu PF National Assembly candidate for Mabvuku Scott Sakupwanya.

It is alleged that on November 21, at around 1300 hours, while Chiremba and his colegues were parked at Kamunhu Shopping Centre, Mabvuku.
Kufahakutizwi and his accomplices, who are still at large who were in a yellow and black Toyota Baby Quantum, blocked Chiremba’s car.
Four men came out from Kufahakutizwi’s car and opened doors of Chiremba’s car, demanding to see one Morgan Mupfurutsa.
Kufahakutizwi, who was allegedly seated at the back of the Toyota Hiace, told his accomplices to destroy Chiremba's car talking using vernacular language that "aya mapastors for ED ngavazive zvevhangeri chete, pwanyai mota iyoyo”, meaning “these pastors for ED should concentrate on preaching the gospel, destroy that vehicle”.
Kufahakutizwi’s accomplices then hit Chiremba’s car rear passenger window using wooden sticks, causing it to break completely and drove away.
The alleged damage that occurred was US$370 and nothing was recovered.
It is also alleged that on November 18, at around 1400 hours, in Shashe Crescent, New Mabvuku, there was a funeral opposite to where Nyasulu resides.
It is alleged that there was a huge crowd of mourners who were attending the funeral, with some mourners seated in Nyasulu’s garden, destroying it.
Nyasulu asked the mourners to move away from his garden and an altercation arose.
He went to a nearby bar and when he returned to his house, an unknown person who was at the funeral noticed that he was wearing a Zanu PF cap.
Kufahakutizwi, allegedly then approached Nyasulu and grabbed him by the collar and started assaulting him using clenched fists alleging that he had thrown stones at the mourners.
Nyasulu then ran away and was rescued by his brother William Nyasulu.
Nyasulu then went to ZRP Mabvuku and filed a report.
He will appear in court on January 23, for his routine remand.
