Former Highlanders coach, Erol Akbay, has expressed his confidence in newly-appointed Bosso boss, Kelvin Kaindu, predicting he will bring trophies to the club.
Akbay extended his congratulations and best wishes to Kaindu, stating: “I know he will win honours with the club. Kelvin understands the systems of Highlanders, having played for and coached them. If he receives the necessary support, I’m certain he’ll deliver the results everyone is craving.”
Kaindu takes the helm following the departure of Baltemor Brito, who initially revived Highlanders’ fortunes before experiencing a disappointing decline starting on Matchday 20. The Portuguese coach fell short of the set target of a championship or second-place finish, while also doubling as interim coach for the national team.
Some fans believe Brito lacked sufficient support, particularly in failing to acquire his requested striker, Obriel Chirinda. One supporter commented: “We were supposed to retain Brito. The club didn’t back him, we should’ve found the striker he wanted.”
Another fan suggested: “Many things are wrong at Highlanders. Now, we might need Cosmas ‘Tsano’ Zulu’s expertise.”
Despite a promising start, Highlanders ultimately finished fifth with 55 points in the recently concluded season.
