Former Mabvuku-Tafara MP Kufahakutizwi withdraws court challenge

Former Mabvuku-Tafara Member of Parliament Munyaradzi Febion Kufahakutizwi, who had filed a court application at the High Court, seeking to have Sengezo Tshabangu’s recall declared null and void, has withdrawn the court application.

This comes as Kufahakutizwi was barred from participating in the December 9 by-elections, leaving Zanu PF candidate Pedzai Scott sakupwanya uncontested and therefore winning the contest for the Mabvuku-Tafara constituency.

“As per the attached copy of Notice of Withdrawal dated 13th day of December 2023, FEBION MUNYARADZI KUFAHAKUTIZWI, as first applicant and Chamisa’s party, as second applicant – who had filed an urgent application seeking an order that Sengezo Tshabangu’s recall of Kufahakutizwi from the National Assembly and everything founded thereon is invalid, null and void – withdrew their application and tendered wasted costs!” Prof Jonathan Moyo confirmed the withdrawal on X.

After winning the Mabvuku-Tafara seat in the August harmonised Elections, Kufahakutizwi was recalled from Parliament in October by Sengezo Tshabangu but had successfully filed nomination papers to run for the Mabvuku-Tafara National Assembly Constituency in by-elections held on December 9.
