Zanu PF candidate, Pedzai Sakupwanya, has been duly elected as the Member of the National Assembly for the Mabvuku-Tafara constituency.
This is according to a Zimbabwe Electoral Commission statement released yesterday.
This comes as the only other candidate for that election, Phebion Munyaradzi Kufahakutizwi’s candidature was set aside by the High Court under matter number HCH/7543/23.
Kufahakutizwi was the Citizens coalition for Change candidate for Mabvuku-Tafara constituency.
“Since there were two candidates nominated for the Mabvuku-Tafara National Assembly constituency by-election, Sakupwanya Pedzai of Zanu PF is the sole candidate that was duly nominated, hence there will be no by-election in that Constituency on 9 December 2023,” reads the statement from ZEC Chief Elections Officer, Utoile Silaigwana.
