Mabvuku-Tafara legislator, Pedzai “Scott’ Sakupwanya yesterday made his first appearance in Mabvuku-Tafara since his election into office on February 3.

The Mabvuku legislator’s public appearance cleared allegations of him being mentally unstable, with Sakupwanya expressing displeasure at the motive of spreading of such rumours.

Addressing thousands of supporters and revellers at his birthday celebration at the Tafara Grounds, Sakupwanya expressed gratitude to all those gathered and disowned rumours of his mental instabilities, saying that his enemies were behind the rumours to tarnish his image.

“They said I was going crazy and mentally unstable, do you see a mentally challenged man in front of your eyes? They should go and collect their monies from those that lied to them,” Sakupwanya said.

He also assured the community that he intended to fulfil his promises from the campaign, with the MP handing 12 school headmasters in Mabvuku US$5 000 for tuition for all pupils at these schools, while promising to pay fees amounting to US$10 per course for 2000 students.

Speaking at the same event, Zanu PF provincial youth leader, Emmanuel Mahachi, assured Sakupwanya of the support of the party and that they stood by him even through their attendance at the event was testimony of their commitment.

“Honourable Scott, be assured of the support of the party, there are politburo members, leaders in the party from national, provincial and even those under you at the DCC level are present to support you and congratulate you on your birthday,” said Mahachi.

The birthday celebrations saw the donation of over 10 wheelchairs to people with disability in the constituency, with entertainment from various artistes who include DJ Fabian and Levels, Enzo Ishall, Bazooker, Poptain, Dorcas Moyo, Mathias Mhere and Jah Prayzah concluding a jam-packed event.
