Zimbos on social media mock Chiwenga over serial marriages

Zimbabweans on social media have unleashed their mockery on Vice President Constantino Chiwenga on the occasion of his church wedding to current wife Miniyothabo Baloyi held at St Gerard’s Catholic Church in Borrowdale, Harare, this Saturday, 23 December.

Several X users took the opportunity of the announcement of the wedding to express their ridicule:

“I'm saving my congratulations to Generari for his next (wedding).”

“Kuita hupenyu hwekuchata chete, dzichachata futi nevamwe vakadzi 3 dzisati dzafa zvadzo Guvheya.”

“We give it 5 years zvenge zvagurwa.”

“She must ask (Jocylene) and Marry what kind of a monster her husband is.”

Chiwenga married Baloyi, who is an army colonel in June 2022 making is probably his fourth marriage with the second and third one ending with ugly squabbles.

Not much is known about Chiwenga’s alleged first marriage. He has never responded to images shared on social media which are said to be of him and his first wife on their wedding day. The woman has never been identified and there are no known children from the union, if indeed it did happen.

Chiwenga then married Jocylen Jacobsen nee Mauchaza in 1998 and divorced her in 2012. He alleged that Jocylen was violent and would beat him up. Jocylen on the other hand said Chiwenga was abusive.

Chiwenga got involved with Marry Mubaiwa before the dissolution of his marriage to Jocylen. The couple went on to have three kids and appeared to be a match made in heaven. Until Chiwenga fell ill with an undeclared illness.

The couple both spotted swollen hands and Chiwenga’s twitchy demeanour at formal functions like media conference generated a lot of jokes and memes, giving rise to a lot of speculation as to just what was ailing him.

That ended with Chiwenga giving Marry a token of divorce in 2019 and the court ruling that the civil marriage was null and void as Marry had engineered it while Chiwenga was too ill to consent. .

Marry is currently facing murder charges related to allegations of attempting to poison Chiwenga while he was on his deathbed.

And now there is Miniyothabo

Government, Zanu-PF and security services who-is-who, led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa and wife Auxilia, attended the church ceremony and the reception at Umwinzi.

And now pessimists wait for the end of the honeymoon.
