A man, who was part of a team that went and tied the complainant and his wife with cables to steal property worth US$8 000, has been taken to court.
Godknows Bushu, 43, of Dzivaresekwa Extension, Harare, Gilbert Mudhame, 30, Glen Norah C, Harare, James Mudhenda, 45, of Chitungwiza and Ernest Taruvinga, 31, of Budiriro, appeared before magistrate Stanford Mambanje charged with robbery.
The State, through prosecutor Rufaro Chonzi, alleges that on December 5, 2022, at 0200 hours, the four accused with Elvis Katini, Brain and two others who are all still at large, went to house number 763 Crowhill, Borrowdale, in Harare where they force opened the main door and went to the main bedroom.
They allegedly confronted the complainant and his wife whose hands they tied both tied with cables before forcing them to lie on the floor.
The State alleges that, they went on to search the whole house and stole US$795, Hp Laptop Probook 450 95, Samsung S9 Plus, Vivo phone, Samsung Television and Tecno Pop 02.
They loaded their loot in the complainant’s Nissan Sylphy and drove away.
They later dumped the complainant’s car along Crowhill Road in the same neighbourhood and allegedly stole other property.
As a result, value worth US$8 000 was stolen and US$6 500 was recovered.
They were remanded in custody.
