At the bustling 2024 Fruit Logistica in Berlin, Zimbabwean companies are making their mark, showcasing their vibrant horticultural offerings and seeking new markets to blossom their export receipts. Led by the national trade promotion agency, ZimTrade, 10 Zimbabwean companies are interacting with potential buyers and sellers, eager to expand their reach and drive the country's export ambitions.

Blueberry bushes laden with juicy gems, fields bursting with crisp green peas, and rows of succulent strawberries – these are just some of the treasures Zimbabwe is presenting to the world. Sweet potatoes, fiery green chilies, and creamy avocados complete the picture, painting a diverse and delectable landscape of Zimbabwean agricultural potential.

This proactive participation aligns with the nation’s “Horticulture Recovery Growth Plan,” aiming to triple exports to $300 million by 2030. “We're already on track,” declares ZimTrade’s Director of Operations, Similo Nkala, highlighting the impressive jump in exports to Germany - from $7 million in 2020 to $10 million in 2022.

Germany is just one piece of the puzzle. Ambassador Alice Mashingaidze, Zimbabwe’s top envoy to Germany, applauds the effort, stating: “Zimbabwe is proving it’s open for business, making its mark on the global stage in horticultural production.” The demand for Zimbabwe’s fresh produce is undeniable, and local companies are determined to tap into every corner of the global market.

With 2 750 exhibitors from across the globe gathered at Fruit Logistica, the stage is set for Zimbabwe to shine. This is not just about showcasing products; it’s about cultivating relationships, fostering partnerships, and securing a fruitful future for Zimbabwe’s horticultural industry. The seeds are sown, the sun is shining, and Zimbabwe’s horticultural exports are primed for a bountiful harvest.
