Team Zimbabwe confident of All-Africa Games 2024 success

Team Zimbabwe’s preparations for the All-Africa Games 2024, scheduled for Accra, Ghana from March 8 to 23, 2024, are on course, with the management confident the team will excel at the continental showcase.

Speaking at a press conference on Team Zimbabwe’s preparations for the 13th edition of the African Games at National Gallery of Zimbabwe, Team Zimbabwe Chef de Mission, Eltah Nengomasha expressed her confidence that the team will excel in Accra.

“We are beyond excited to send our talented athletes to compete in the prestigious 13th Edition of the All-Africa Games being hosted by Ghana.

“This is a momentous occasion for Zimbabwean sport, we are confident that our athletes will put their best foot forward. The athletes’ competitive spirit, sportsmanship and commitment to sporting excellence will undoubtedly serve as the driving force, as they proudly carry their national flag,” Nengomasha said.

Team Zimbabwe’s contingent of 128 athletes, including officials, will represent the country in rugby, cricket both men and women, karate, tennis, judo, athletics, triathlon, swimming, chess and cycling.

Nengomasha said Team Zimbabwe will be officially unveiled shortly before they leave for Accra.

“Team Zimbabwe 2024’s strategy for team selection and participation anchored mainly on individual or team performance. The potential to achieve a podium performance, qualify for the Olympics, improve ranking were primary considerations as well as availing development platforms.”

Team Zimbabwe unveiled the team kit for all the sporting disciplines travelling to Accra.

The team acknowledged the support from the government, through the Finance Ministry for financing the games, the Ministry of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture, the Sports and Recreation Commission and all participating National Sports Associations.
