A man, who was caught with TelOne drop wires, has been taken to court.
Tawanda Chirimuuta, 32, appeared before magistrate Ruth Moyo at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with contravening the Postal and Telecommunications Act.
He was remanded in custody.
The complainant in the matter is TelOne, represented by Rodgers Gwenjere, company’s loss control officer.
The State alleges that on February 15, at around 1110 hours, Chirimuuta was in the City Centre, Corner Samora Machel Avenue and Second Street, Harare and went to steal TelOne drop wires, which were in a cage at TelOne Building.
It is alleged that he stole two bundles of TelOne drop wires and was seen by a security guard, Luke Mandizha of VS Security, who was on duty.
He was arrested and the bundles of TelOne drop wires were recovered from him.
Both Chirimuuta and the exhibits were taken to Harare Central Police Station for further management.
A NetOne loss control officer, Rodgers Gwenje, attended the scene and identified the property as belonging to TelOne.
The recovered drop wires were taken to National Railways of Zimbabwe for weighing and had a total weight of 791 grammes.
