Zimbabwe junior tennis players are ready to represent the nation at the Africa Junior Championships that will be played in Togo from February 27 to March 10.
The tournament is for both girls and boys who are 14 years and under.
In a statement, Tennis Zimbabwe president, Walter Jera, said the competition will give the players exposure to international competitions.
“The Africa Junior Championship is the pinnacle of under 14 junior tennis in the continent and provides an important platform for our players to test themselves against the best in the continent,” he said, adding that the tournament is an important part of the development pathway for the junior tennis professionals in the country.
Terrence Mazingaire and coach Ethnie Chifamba, who led the team at zonals in Namibia, lead the AJC team, which will be announced by selector representative, Miracle Matanga.
Mazingaire is excited to travel with the winning team again, hoping they will make it again like what they did at the zonals.
“I am excited about the team because it comprises our nation’s under 14 boys’ and girls’ talent. Those who have followed tennis the past two years will note that the selected players have excelled at the national, region and continental level in their age group,” said Mazingaire.
