Four women, who had been taken to court on shoplifting allegations, have been denied bail.
Maria Kativhu, 33, Paidamoyo Mupamba, 26, Tariro Manhimbe, 29, and Olinda Rutendo Chadoka, 23, of Chitungwiza, appeared before magistrate Lynne Chizhou charged with shoplifting.
They will appear in court again toda for bail application.
The State, through prosecutor Rufaro Chonzi, alleges that on February 26, at around 1500 hours, Kativhu and Chadoka entered Spar Athenities Supermarket, at the corner of Fife Avenue and Fifth Street.
They were seen by CCTV monitor, Charity Zinga, who monitored their movements.
When they were going out of the shop, Zingai alerted a security guard who searched them and recovered six Nivea lotion units hidden in Chadoka’s jacket, leading to her arrest.
The State alleges that on February 28, at around 1000 hours, Kativhu, Manhimbe and the other four - who are still at large - took turns to enter Spar Hatfield and stole 20 by 750mls Jameson Whiskey.
As a result, US$720 was stolen.
