A man who allegedly sold a residential stand he had already sold to another person has appeared in court.
Samuel Chiwola, 33, of Hopley, appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with fraud.
He will appear in court on April 16.
The State alleges that on May 8, 2023, in Mabvuku, Chiwola told the complainant that he was selling a residential stand, stand number 18545 Donnybrooke Township, Mabvuku, Harare for US$5 000, and the complainant agreed to buy the stand.
The complainant allegedly deposited US$3 000 to Chiwola.
The State alleges that on October 2023, the complainant paid another US$500 to the complainant.
On January 29, 2024, the complainant visited the stand and that is when he discovered that Chiwola had sold that same stand to one Kundwai Mutambanengwe, who had already started to develop it, for US$7 000.
The complainant then filed a police report, leading to Chiwola's arrest.
As a result, the complainant was defrauded US$3 500.
