A man, who allegedly raped his 13-year-old niece and gave her US$1.50 as a reward has been denied bail.
The 45-year-old accused appeared before magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with rape.
He was ordered to appear in court on April 12.
The State, through prosecutor Loveti Muringwa, alleges that on March 22, at around 1200 hours the complainant went to the accused’s residence and sat on a sofa in the dining room.
It is alleged that he took advantage that there was noone at the house, he then dragged the complainant into his bedroom, forced her to sleep on the bed and he raped her.
After that the accused threatened to assault her if she disclosed anything to anyone and he gave her US$1.50 as a reward.
The matter was unearthed when the complainant narrated everything to her aunt.
