A man who allegedly took advantage that the complainant was in need of a job, lured and raped her has been denied bail.
Clayton Masheedzanwa, 29, of Mbare, appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with rape.
He was ordered to apply for bail at the High Court.
The State alleges that in November 2023, the complainant told her friend that she was looking for a job.
On January 14, at around 1600 hours, it is alleged, Masheedzanwa called the complainant after he was told that she needed a job.
Masheedzanwa allegedly told the complainant to come and meet him at Food World Copacabana branch, Harare after lying to her that he wanted to take her to the one lady by the name Kelly who wanted to employ her as a shopkeeper.
When the complainant came to town, Masheedzanwa took her to a room along Seke Road, Jo’burg Lines, Mbare where he locked the door and raped her without any protection.
It is alleged that Masheedzanwa spent the whole night with the complainant.
He unlocked the door the following morning and that is when complainant managed to escape.
