A man from Rockview West, who was entrusted with selling a car, has been taken to court after he allegedly converted the money to his own use.
Stalin Nhamo, 34, of Rockview West, appeared before magistrate Estere Chivasa at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with theft of trust property.
He was remanded in custody.
The complainant in this matter is Darlington Kubvoruno, who is employed by Road Signs Construction.
The State, through prosecutor Tawanda Tapi, alleges that in August 2022, Kubvoruno handed over his car, a Toyota Ipsum to Nhamo.
The agreement was that Nhamo would sell the car at US$1 200 and give the money to Kubvoruno.
It is alleged that Nhamo then drove the vehicle and went with it.
It is alleged that Kubvoruno kept on asking about the car from Nhamo, but he kept on giving empty promises until the complainant visited him.
Kubvoruno discovered that Nhamo had sold the car but never remitted the money to him as agreed.
He then made a police report, leading to Nhamo’s arrest.
As a result, property worth US$1 200 was stolen.
