A man from Strathaven, Harare, who allegedly stole more than US$17 000 worth in a car deal, has been arraigned before the courts.

Francis Ruzariro, 39, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with theft of trust property.

The State alleges that in August 2023, the complainant in this case, Fred Matikiti, bought a car, a Honda Vezel from SBT Company Limited in Japan.

The car was shipped to Dar-es-Salam and it was taken to Chirundu Border Post in Zimbabwe, where all the import duty clearance was to be done.

The complainant then allegedly sent US$6 000 as import duty clearance fee.

Ruzariro allegedly paid the duty clearance and brought the car to Harare where he sold it to one Tinashe Ruzvidzo, who later sold it to another person.

As a result, US$17 120 worth was stolen.
