An alleged guard who stole a company firearm and gave it to his brother as a gift has been taken to court.
Tinashe Sibanda, 25, of Dzivaresekwa 3, appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with theft.
He was remanded in custody.
The State alleges that in December 2020, Sibanda, who was a security guard working for Profesional Security located at number 2 Chishawasha road, was deployed at CABS, First Street branch.
It is alleged that he was armed with a .38 Taurus Revolver and when he knocked off duty, he went away with the firearm.
Follow-ups were made but Sibanda deserted work and could not be located.
On March 23, police from CID Homicide were informed that Sibanda had reported at the company premises.
They went there and arrested him and he said he had given his brother, Phenias Sibanda, the forearm as a gift.
Follow-ups led to Phineas’ arrest. Phineas told the police that he had sold the firearm to one Thomas Nyakabau of Belvedere Farm in Goromonzi.
