A 30-year-old Chitungwiza man, Simbarashe Chadiwa, was recently released from prison following a confession by the alleged victim, revealing that she falsified facts accusing him of rape.

In is reported that some time ago, Chadiwa, then 21 years old and his friend went to the girl’s house, to see the friend’s lover, who was a maid.

The girl’s mother worked in Botswana, whereupon her return, she saw her daughter limping, leading to her questioning and pressuring her daughter into wrongly implicating Chadiwa.

The confession came on a radio interview, where the alleged victim, confessed to falsely accusing Chadiwa of rape.

In an interview on the same radio programme, Chadiwa revealed that he spent nine years in prison serving his 18-year sentence before the girl, who is now 18, confessed after she suffered a number of casualties that befell her, prompting her to confess to the matter.

“That man never raped me but I was under so much pressure that I ended up wrongly implicating him.

“That action has been haunting me daily such that I can no longer live with the fact that there is someone out there who is suffering for a crime that he never committed in the first place.

“A lot of misfortunes are also happening at our home, which makes me suspect it has to do with the grief on the part of Simbarashe, hence my decision to come clean,” Rosey said.
