Dynamos coach, Genesis Mangombe, is the latest Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League figure to express frustration with refereeing decisions.
Following his team’s recent match against Herentals, Mangombe blasted the officiating, claiming it cost his side valuable points.
“It’s always difficult for us because some of these decisions are letting us down,” Mangombe said. He acknowledged that referees make mistakes, but emphasised his concern that the situation is worsening.
“We are losing points because of that,” he stressed.
Mangombe went on to detail specific incidents from the match. He disputed the legitimacy of the Herentals goal, claiming Jalai was fouled in the build-up.
Conversely, he argued that a clear Dynamos goal was wrongly disallowed.
The coach called for immediate action to address the issue.
“Something needs to be done before it’s too late,” he urged. He pointed out that complaints from coaches are frequent, yet no improvements are being made.
Mangombe’s comments highlight the ongoing debate about refereeing standards in the ZPSL. His frustration echoes concerns from other coaches and fans alike.
Whether these concerns will translate into concrete action to improve officiating remains to be seen.
