On May 16th, Tawananyasha,8, visited the orthopedic clinic of Parirenyatwa Hospital in Zimbabwe with severe pain and limited movement in the right forearm after a fall.
Dr. Chen Junpeng, an orthopedic doctor from 21st China medical team diagnosed a right distal radius comminuted fracture with obvious displacement.
As the injury was already 5 days old, fracture reduction was necessary to prevent severe deformity and dysfunction of the forearm.
Considering the patient’s condition and family background, Dr. Chen suggested trying fracture reduction through manual reduction.
With the family’s prayers, the reduction was successfully achieved within 8 minutes. Subsequently, the forearm was immobilized with a cast and a follow-up X-ray showed excellent reduction.

On May 21st, Tawananyasha’s family visited the residence of the China medical team and presented a handwritten letter titled “Lucky Girl” to express their sincere gratitude for the medical assistance provided to the local people.
The letter thanked the China medical team for their dedication and skills in alleviating the suffering of the patients, and for nurturing the friendship between China and Zimbabwe.
