A woman stands accused of abandoning her two year old son at a shopping centre, leaving the boy cold and alone in the night until he was rescued by some good Samaritans.
Anastancia Chakanyuka, 36, of Domboshava, appeared before the Harare Magistrates' Courts facing charges of ill-treatment if a child.
She was remanded in custody.
The State alleges that Chakunyuka took her son from Chirodzero Business Centre on June 4, 2924, at around 2100 hours and went to Makumbe Business Centre where she left him alone.
The court heard that after she had abandoned him, the child was heard crying the whole night until he was rescued on June 5 at around 0500 hours and was referred to Makumbe Hospital for treatment.
