ZACC battles to recover social media account

Zim Now Writer

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission has still not recovered its X account, which was hacked last week Friday, with the hacker claiming reluctance of the anti-graft body to arrest controversial businessman Wicknell Chivhayo as the motive behind his theatrics.

The hacker, who claims to be an inside man and is yet to relinquish control of the account, is blaming ZACC of doing nothing to curb rampant corruption cases.

The hacker went further to allude that they are receiving paltry salaries while corrupt individuals splurge millions on the Commission's watch.

“It’s disappointing to inform you that he is not actively working on any case. We are just loners waiting in line for a meagre ZiG salary. There is no competence whatsoever; can’t even manage social media accounts,” the hacker posted on ZACC's X account.

ZACC spokesperson, Thandiwe Mlobane on Wednesday shared that there were no new developments on the hacked account.

Analysts have since waded into the fiasco, saying that the Anti-graft body has to do more in terms of securing their systems, adding that the development shows how internal officials are frustrated at the lack of activity despite rampant corruption cases.
