Two teenage boys aged 13 and 15, from Cowdry Park stole US$2 000 from a relative before going on a shopping spree, which included electronic gadgets, clothes among other items.

According to a neighbour spoke on condition of anonymity, the relative who they stole the money from is the 13-year-old’s grandfather who had saved the money from selling his cows, intending to drill a borehole with the money.

The 13-year-old is said to have taken the money and gave it to his 15-year-old friend who then used the money to buy a television, solar panel, inverter, clothes and a laptop.

Authorities were alerted by concerned neighbours, after growing concern that came up after a discovery of further purchase of a laptop by the accused.

However, affected families have sought to settle the matter out of court, prompting Bulawayo acting police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele not to comment on the matter.
