Netone poor digital security exposed again in ZWD 285 thousand theft

Netone which recently lost over ZWD 1 million to vulnerability in its systems has once again been targeted, this time losing almost ZWD300 000.

Takunda Gwaranda, 21, Muguta, Epworth, appeared at the Harare Magistrates' Courts charged with fraud and money laundering arising from allegations that he fraudulently funded his OneMoney wallet and transferred ZWD $285 817 to various Ecocash accounts.

The State alleges that between May 10 and 13, Gwaranda hacked into Netone's OneMoney wallet and fraudulently transferred money to various Ecocash accounts in 203 transactions.

Gwaranda was using a contract line registered in the name of his mother.
