A man who claimed to be part of the MDC-T security team at Richard Morgan Tsvangirai House has been taken to court accused of assaulting City Park employees and destroying their cars.
Mafarira Paul of Mbare, appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi at the Harare Magistrates' Courts charged with assault and malicious damage to property.
Prosecuting, Takudzwa Jambawu alleges that on March 18, 2024, the complainants led by City Parking operations manager were informed that, the City Park marshalls were being chased away by the accused who claimed to be MDC-T security at Richard Morgan Tsvangirai House.
The complainants were escorted by ZRP to resolve the issue in a peaceful manner since they were in a misunderstanding over a parking space.
The court heard that the police left the complainants alone doing their business after the situation was calm.
It is alleged that Mufarira and the other four accomplices approached the complainants accusing them of engaging the police in their meeting of sharing parking spaces.
The accused began to act angry as they went towards the complainants.
The complainants realised the situation was deteriorating and decided to run away.
The unrestrained accused started to throw stones and empty bottles to the complainants and speed chase to the complainant's two City Park cars stoning all the window screens, sideways, and rear wind screen.
The court heard that Mufarira started to assault the drivers of the two cars.
The complainants allegedly sustained injuries, and their vehicle was damaged on the front and rear window screen.
The matter was reported to the police, leading to his arrest.
He was remanded in custody.
