A Chegutu man chopped his wife to death in the bush before committing suicide by ingesting poison in his own kitchen.
The police said Shiellah Utete, 32, of Chakari, Chegutu, died on last Friday around 1500 hours.
It is believed that her ex-husband Waston Musika, 40, struck Uted with an axe on the neck, shoulder, and the head in a bush in Chakari.
“Allegations are that, after murdering Utete, Musika consumed cyanide and was found lying lifeless inside a kitchen at his residence,” the police said.
Murders have become common place in Zimbabwe with police announcing an average of five each week.
