ZBC News Online- A government delegation led by the Deputy Chief Secretary in the Office of President and Cabinet, Engineer Amos Marawa, is in Madasgar on the invitation of that country’s President, His Excellency Andry Rajoleina to establish ways of collaboration in the area of waste management.
President Rajoeina was impressed by the transformative Geo Pomona Waste To Energy Project in Harare when he toured the site on the sidelines of the 44th Edition of the SADC Summit last month.
This morning, the delegation toured one of the biggest landfills in the capital Antananarivo, which was established in 1966 and has striking similarities to the former Pomona dumpsite as it is an an eyesore and a health hazard to city inhabitants.
The delegation is later in the afternoon expected to meet senior government officials from the Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Environment for further discussions.
The Zimbabwean delegation includes senior management of the Geo Pomona Waste Management company.
