Prophet Walter Magaya, the leader of Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries and the proprietor of Yadah FC, is contemplating a potential bid for the Zimbabwe Football Association presidency.

This comes after a chorus of requests from former and current women's football administrators who believe Magaya is the man to steer Zimbabwean football out of its current challenges.

Magaya, known for his philanthropic endeavors and commitment to sports development, has expressed his willingness to consider the position. However, he emphasized that he would first consult with his family and church before making a final decision.

The calls for Magaya to run for ZIFA president gained momentum after the successful conclusion of the Heart Women Soccer League Tournament, which he sponsored. Former Zifa Women Soccer League board member Cecilia Gambe led the charge, urging Magaya to take on the leadership role and revitalize Zimbabwean football.

Magaya, who is also considering extending his sponsorship to men's leagues, acknowledged the support he has received and expressed his desire to make a positive impact on the sport. "I'll analyze the situation and consider what changes can be made and how I can contribute," he said. "I'll make a decision within two weeks."

The Heart Women Soccer League Tournament, which was supported by both Magaya's Heart Group and Vincent Chaonza's Open Gold Enterprise, concluded with Chapungu Queens emerging as champions. The tournament showcased the talent and dedication of Zimbabwean female footballers and highlighted the potential for growth in women's football.

Magaya expressed his satisfaction with the tournament's success and revealed plans to expand his sponsorship efforts to men's leagues. He emphasized his commitment to reviving the football vibe in Zimbabwe and creating opportunities for players at all levels.

The tournament, which featured 16 teams, offered significant financial rewards to the participating teams. Chapungu Queens received a golden floating trophy, US$10,000, and gold medals. Black Mambas Queens, as runners-up, received US$5,000 and silver medals, while Herentals claimed third place with US$3,000 and bronze medals.

Ethel Chinyerere from Chapungu was honored as the star of the tournament, receiving a cash reward of US$2,500 for both her top goal scorer and player-of-the-tournament accolades.

Magaya emphasized the tournament's positive impact on women's football in Zimbabwe. "This is an achievement for The Heart Group and women's football in Zimbabwe," he said. "We're excited about the results, and we're committed to supporting the growth of the sport."
