In a stunning display of loyalty and dedication, Highlanders Football Club supporters have rallied together to raise the required US$6,000 to pay off the club's fine imposed by the Premier Soccer League.

The massive fundraising effort, which saw fans boycott the team's home match against ZPC Kariba on Sunday, has paid off, with a whopping $5,974 raised by the Bulawayo chapter alone. The Harare and South Africa chapters chipped in with US$600 and ZAR 10,990 respectively.

The fine was imposed following the violent clashes that erupted at Wadzanai Stadium last month during a Chibuku Super Cup quarter-final match between Highlanders and Simba Bhora. The controversy surrounding a contentious penalty award sparked the chaos, forcing Highlanders to abandon the match.

But in a heartwarming twist, the Highlanders faithful have come together to bail out their beloved club. The fundraising event, held at the Highlanders Clubhouse on October 6th, 2024, was a resounding success, with fans digging deep into their pockets to save their team.

"We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our amazing fans!" read a statement from Highlanders. "We want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to each and every one of you who contributed to this noble cause."

The club is still expecting more funds to come in from other chapters, but for now, the target has been met, and the fine has been paid off.

"We stood together as one, and we achieved our goal," said Highlanders supporter, Mthabisi Ncube. "We showed that we are more than just fans; we are a family."

"This is what being a Bosso fan is all about – unity, loyalty, and passion," added another supporter, Nkosilathi Sibanda.
