Police raided the house of Bindura businessman Lucky Kapiya, popularly known as Tunje, and recovered unregistered cough syrups worth $1,2 million.
The cough syrups, which included Broncleer, Benylin codeine and stilpane were recovered during the raid, leading to the arrest of Tunje’s wife Olivia Chidavaenzi (40) of house number 5666 Clusters Bindura.
She has since appeared before Bindura magistrate Shingirai Mutiro, facing possession of unspecified medicines and was remanded to November 28, on $50 000 bail.
The team obtained a search and seizure warrant from the Bindura Magistrates’ Court and proceeded to Tunje’s house and found the wife at home.
The search, the court heard, recovered cough syrups namely: 48x100ml of benylin codeine, 30x100 ml of Broncleer and 9x200ml stilpane with a street value of $1,2 million.
